Team inspects Attur hospital

Following allocation of funds

ATTUR: World Bank team inspected the facilities at the Attur Government Hospital on Thursday following allocation of funds for its upgradation.
The hospital was allotted Rs. 1.27 crore under the World Bank-funded Tamil Nadu Health System project.
Treatment
The hospital located on National Highways 67 caters to a large number of people in Attur, Gengavalli, Talavasal and surrounding areas. Over 1,000 people visit the hospital seeking treatment every day.
People in the town and Attur taluk have been demanding for long that facilities in the hospital be improved and the number of beds increased. The Government allotted funds for constructing new buildings with 48 more beds.
The team comprising senior doctors inspected the hospital premises and equipment available in it.
They also interacted with the doctors in the hospital and the patients.
Later, they conducted a discussion with the Joint Director of Medical and Rural Health Services P. Kandammal, public works department officials and the hospital doctors.
Officials said that tenders for the construction of new buildings would be called for next month.
The construction would be completed in nine months. Senior doctors were present during the inspection.
