CHANDIGARH: Kinnow orchards have been established over 100 acres of rain-fed panchayati waste land in 19 villages of Sirsa district at a cost of Rs.2 crore to supplement the income of panchayats and motivate the farming community to sow horticulture crops. An official spokesman said here on Friday that these orchards came into being after levelling the undulating land. These orchards would be given out on contract by the panchayats to earn maximum income. Intensive farming was being undertaken by growing vegetables between two rows of fruit trees to further increase the income.
