Cops face suspension

Kanpur: An inspector has been transferred and two other policemen put under suspension for handcuffing three minors and producing them in a court.

The inspector of Kalyanpur station has been shifted to police lines and two other policemen have been suspended, Senior Superintendent of Police A. K. Singh said.

Policemen Jugal Kishor and Radheshyam had arrested three 12-year-old boys in connection with a theft and handcuffed them while taking them to the court.

On witnessing this, the relatives of the accused and lawyers present protested against the act. Later the children were freed from the handcuffs and produced before the court.
