Workshop on valve repair

KOCHI: A Euroasian workshop on heart valve repair will be held at St. Gregorios Cardiovascular Centre at Parumala, Pathanamthita district, on July 12 and 13. World renowned cardio vascular surgeons, experts in valve repair surgery, would be part of the the workshop promoted by Frontier Lifeline and Dr. K.M. Cherian Heart Foundation. Dr. Cherian is the programme director.

Dr. Cherian said some of the key techniques in valve repair that will be demonstrated at the workshop will be done by surgeons who have introduced these techniques. Prof. Ottavio R. Alfieri, the personal surgeon of the Pope, is credited with techniques called Alfieri Repair and Alfieri Bow Stitch.
