Stipend for advocates notified
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE: The Government has issued a notification to continue the scheme of providing monthly stipend to young advocates (in the initial years of their career).
The scheme, which was launched by the Janata Dal (S)-Bharatiya Janata Party Government, was discontinued during President’s Rule.
Young advocates, who are beginning their career, will get a stipend of Rs. 1,000 for 24 months. The Government has released Rs. 75 lakh towards the stipend scheme.
Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister S. Suresh Kumar recently assured young advocates that the stipend scheme would be revived. In a press release on Friday, the Minister said that the notification had been issued to keep the promise of the Government.
