Intelligence wing to be strengthened

BANGALORE: Home Minister V.S. Acharya on Friday observed that it would have been possible to avert the police firing in Haveri if the intelligence wing had been alert.

Dr. Acharya told presspersons here that the episode had demonstrated the need for strengthening the police intelligence wing. There was also a need to strengthen the Anti-Naxal Squad. He said the Government would soon take steps to strengthen them. — Special Correspondent
