Indian restaurants in U.K. fined for illegal jobs

London: At least 15 Indian restaurants have been fined hundreds of thousands of pounds for employing illegal migrants, including Indians, who do not have the right to work in the United Kingdom. The crackdown launched in February has led to a total fine of £3,03,000 levied on 35 companies, including 15 Indian restaurants across the U.K. Many Indian restaurants have used illegal migrants due to the restrictions on employing chefs from the Indian subcontinent. However, trade union leaders have expressed concern over the government’s strategy.— PTI
