Award for Tapan Sinha
Special Correspondent
Kolkata: “All I want to say is that we have to keep on learning; we have to keep knowing. There is no end to learning,” veteran film director Tapan Sinha said here on Friday on being presented the Government of India’s “One Time Award for Life Time Achievement” in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of India’s Independence.
West Bengal Governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi presented the award to Mr. Sinha.
The Government has also decided to confer the award on three other eminent personalities — actor Dilip Kumar, singer Lata Mangeshkar and actress Saroja Devi. It carries a cash component of Rs 10 lakh, a shawl and a citation. It was given to him in his residence in view of his failing health.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi was present on the occasion.
