Pratima extends lead

BANGALORE: Karnataka’s Pratima Hegde extended the lead by over a whopping 100 pinfalls — going to 173 from the overnight 70 — from her second placed rival Sumathi Nallabantu of AP on day five of the National tenpin bowling championship here on Friday.

Sabeena Saleem of TN slipped badly to be behind by 246 pins.

At the end of the second round for men, Vijay Punjabi continued to lead with a highly consistent performance for an average of 201.5 for the day.

The spotlight, however, was taken by Antony Rajkumar of Karnataka who surged into the second spot with a brilliant average of 218 for the day.

Karnataka continue to dominate the National Championship with nine men making the cut of 16 out of which four are among the top six. With 18 more games to go for the men, the championship is still wide open. — Special Correspondent
