Action council to withdraw from talks on power lines
Staff Reporter
KOTTAYAM: The action council spearheading the fight against the alignment of the Koodamkulam-Thrissur 400 kV line to bring power from the Koodamkulam Nuclear Power Station has decided to call off talks with the authorities concerned and to form action brigades for self-defence.
For the past three years, the council had been running from pillar to post, extending support to the various initiatives the authorities were taking in finding a lasting solution to the vexed problem, Sobichan Abraham, general convener, said.
However, the inter-face with the authorities held on May 22 had proved beyond doubt that they were being misled all these years, Mr. Abraham said.
The authorities had so far taken a negative approach to the alternative the council had suggested.
A convention of the aggrieved persons would be held here on Sunday to discuss the future course of action, he said.
