Minister assures arrival of fertilizers by Monday

Farmers worried about losing crop this kharif

Sangareddy: Farmers from Zaheerabad Assembly segment seeking fertilizers gheraoed the house of Minister for Cooperation Mohd. Fariduddin in Zaheerabad on Friday demanding an assurance from him.

The farmers started gathering in front of his home near the bus stand from morning but observed a Gandhian stance without raising slogans till mid-day.

All the while, the Minister was inside his house. They did not leave the road even after the local police tried to persuade them to do so.

The farmers were found asking the police officials about the arrival of the fertilizers they were promised during the rasta roko on national highway nine (NH9) and also at the AD agriculture office in Sadasivapet the other day. Unable to convince the farmers, the police stayed away from trouble.

Assurance given

Finally, the Minister made his appearance and to the dismay of the farmers, started shouting at them for making a scene.

With the farmers also getting loud and agitated, he tried to convince them by assuring supply of fertilizers by Monday.

“Bear with us for two days more. By Monday you will get as much fertilizer as you want,” Fariduddin said.

Lack of rain

He came out to inform the farmers that he was speaking to the officials concerned. Speaking to reporters, the farmers who seemed to have organised themselves as a group said that they were afraid they might lose the crop this kharif due to a lack of rain and the timely supply of fertilizers.
