MCD team roughed up

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A MCD cattle-catching team was roughed up at Pitampura here on Friday after it attempted to round up cattle from an illegal dairy functioning from government land.

The incident took place when the MCD team from West Rohini and Civil Lines zones accompanied by an assistant sub-inspector and six constables was transferring 10 cows from the dairy to its truck. While the team was busy roping the animals, the owner of the dairy, Pratap, appeared with his brother and 50 others and allegedly manhandled the team. The dairy owner and his men also proceeded to untie the cows allowing them to escape. The MCD team was unable to take remedial action as they were outnumbered.

Later, a police contingent from the Pitampura police station reached the site leading to restoration of normality in the area. An FIR was lodged against the miscreants while Pratap and his brother were arrested.
