LNJP doctors call off five-day-old strike

NEW DELHI: Resident doctors and interns at Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan Hospital here have called off their five-day-old strike after an assurance from the authorities that their demands would be looked into.
The doctors on strike were demanding more security, a better medical infrastructure and additional Group C and D staff. The doctors also met Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit who assured them that their demands would be looked into and that the situation at the hospital would improve over the next three months. The authorities have stepped up security at the hospital and are also deputing more Group D staff.
“We are calling off the strike as we have been assured that our demands would be looked into,” said LNJP Resident Doctors’ Association president Kuldeep Kumar.
