Following alleged refusal to pay a bribe at Kapashera NEW DELHI: A 35-year-old mini-truck driver and his fellow passenger were allegedly manhandled by some policemen for refusing to pay up bribe at Kapashera here on Thursday. Krishan of Rohtak was going to his native place in a mini-truck carrying a cow and three calves around midnight when a PCR jeep flagged them down and asked them to produce the ownership papers of the vehicle. “After we showed them the papers, they demanded Rs.500 for letting us go. When we refused to give in to their demand, they abused us and slapped driver Narender. They even threatened to implicate us in false case,” said Krishan. The policemen then allegedly snatched Rs.500 from them and let them go. “We were too scared to note down the registration number of the PCR jeep, but two of them were addressing each other as Ramchander and Sudhir,” said Krishan. Assuring action, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Police Control Room) Ajay Kumar said: “Appropriate action will be initiated against the guilty, if any, following an inquiry into the matter.”
