Bangalore: A businessman was robbed of Rs. 16 lakh that he had drawn from a bank on Dinnur Main Road in R.T. Nagar police station limits on Friday. The police said that Nageshwara Rao, a wholesale liquor merchant, withdrew the sum from ING Vysya Bank. He got into his car and was driving towards Shivajinagar when an autorickshaw driver signalled and told him that one of the rear tyres had a puncture. Nageshwara Rao, who parked the car by the side of the road and got down to check, found that there was no puncture. Two persons on a motorcycle used this opportunity to take away the money that was in the car. A case has been registered. Nine arrestedThe J.P. Nagar police on Thursday arrested nine persons, including two 16-year-old boys, on charges of dacoity. The names of the others arrested were given as Lokesh (29) of Byatarayanapura, Muruga (31) of Wilson Garden, Satish (21) of Girinagar, Madhu (28) of Kengeri, Kumara (30) of K.R. Puram, Yogesh (24) of Sunkadakatte, Khadar Ulla Khan (19) of Bhuvaneshwarinagar. The police said the accused were reportedly planning to commit dacoity when they were apprehended from a playground, near Ragigudda slum. Two cars, machetes and clubs, a mobile phone and two gold rings were seized from the accused. A case has been registered. BurgledThe house of a private college principal on Hennur Main Road has been burgled. The police said that Abraham and his family had left for Singapore on June 6. Abraham had asked his relative Sanjay to take care of the house during the family’s absence. The police said the burglary came to light when Sanjay went to the house on Friday. They said the burglars had entered the house by breaking the backdoor. A case has been registered. Attempt to murderThe Bagalur police arrested a man on charges of attempt to murder and are on the lookout for another, who is absconding. The name of the arrested was given as Anand and the other accused has been identified as Bachche Gowda. The police said that the brothers Anand and Bachche Gowda had assaulted Santosh. A case has been registered.
