Nallur to construct new water tank

TIRUPUR: The Nallur Municipality will construct a water tank at Cheran Nagar in Ward 7, having a capacity of 10 lakh litres at a cost of Rs. 1 crore to streamline the supply. The Municipal council, which met on Friday, resolved to start the work in the next couple of months. Municipal Chairperson Vijayalakshmi expressed the hope that the work would be completed in within six months. Ms. Vijayalakshmi said that though the local body was getting adequate water from the New Tirupur Area Development Corporation Limited, it failed to ensure the supply to all the areas. “Since we don’t have the necessary facility to store the water, women are disappointed over the supply, especially during the night. Once the tank is ready the problem will be solved,” she said.
