HYDERABAD: The city police on Friday arrested a videographer on charges of stealing digital cameras.
Twelve cameras worth over Rs.5 lakh were also recovered from the possession of 24-year-old Sharma alias Sohail, a resident of Charminar.
Mirchowk Inspector R. Rajeswara Rao said, Sohail opened a video parlour at Noorkhan Bazaar a month ago.
The accused used to hire digital cameras each for Rs. 300 on the pretext of covering marriage ceremonies. However, he was reportedly missing from June 8 along with the cameras.
According to the police he and his friend Afroz disappeared with the cameras taken from three shops in old city.
However, he was nabbed while trying to sell the cameras at Patergatti on Friday morning. Afroz is still absconding, Mr. Rajeswara Rao said.
