Mithun puts South in final

BANGALORE: A. Mithun bagged six wickets as South defeated East by an innings and 47 runs in the Col. Hemu Adhikari Trophy under-19 inter-zonal tournament semifinal at the IAF ground here on Friday.

In the other semifinal, North defeated All India Universities XI by 10 wickets.

West secured the first innings lead over Central in the drawn play-off match to secure the fifth place.

The final will be held here from Monday.

The scores:

Semifinals: South 511 in 128.1 overs bt East 297 in 127.5 overs and 167 in 62.4 overs (Sudip Chatterjee 45, A. Mithun six for 53).

All India Universities XI 182 in 52 overs and 318 in 89.3 overs (Khushal Jilla 76, Yogesh Nagar five for 34, Jayant Yadav four for 87) lost to North 432 in 136 overs and 72 for no loss in 20.1 overs (Yogesh Nagar 48 n.o.).

Fifth place play-off: Central 520 for nine decl. in 169.3 overs drew with West 527 for seven in 155.5 overs (Iqbal Abdullah 101, Udit Birla 53, Nikhunje Mohite 50, Prithipal Solanki 41). — Principal Correspondent
