A summit has been planned to stimulate national thinking on value decline and redressal Bangalore: Several eminent persons from all over the country have come together to form the Foundation for Restoration of National Values (FRNV), a movement that inspires value inculcation through role models. Focussing on bringing about a transformation through “enlightenment” and “persuasion,” the foundation on Friday brought together a conclave of eminent citizens, including Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha, founder of Narayanashrama Tapovanam of Trichur district, E. Sreedharan, managing director of DMRCL and M.N. Venkatachalaiah, former Chief Justice of India. Addressing presspersons, Mr. Sreedharan said the foundation aimed to inspire eminent citizens of the country and draw from their vast experience and character to address lacunae in the value system. “The rapid pace of change and accelerated rate of progress has brought its own de-merits, eroding the very essence of our unique and time-tested value system. Awareness, therefore, is the key leading to a collective awakening to what each of us stand for and the larger role we play in strengthening the moral fabric of our country,” he said. Swami Bhoomananda, who spelt out the multi-pronged approach of the foundation, said FRNV would set in motion a collective and sustainable remedy to the value decline crisis at the national level. This would be done through Parliament, judiciary, education, industry and allied sectors, he said. A National Value Restoration Council (comprising representatives from the Government) would be formed through which FRNV would work towards framing a “national cultural and ethical syllabus” for children. The foundation would also hold a two-day summit at New Delhi from November 18 to stimulate national thinking and perception on value decline and redressal, he added.
