‘Running Amok’
to be held at
Tasveer Gallery
The show will be between June 27 and July 18

Bangalore: Bangalore-based artist Jasmeen Patheja is presenting a collection photographs under the title “Running Amok” at Tasveer Gallery.

The show, between June 27 and July 18, will present pictures that are, as the artist puts it, “A collection of brief distractions that present themselves in everyday encounters.”

The photographs are from a collection of images taken from 2001 and contain everyone from little children and Pateja’s grandmother to the strangers she encountered on the streets.

“The camera sometimes mediates between moments of reality and me. This process of mediation breaks otherwise impossible boundaries,” the artist says.

Project

The artist is best known for her Blank Noise project to build public testimonies of victims of street harassment. People and interaction form the basis of all works of the artist, who uses a range of media from photography, video-installation, sound, performance and the blog as media of communication.

Patheja studied fine art at the Srishti School of Art Design and Technology in Bangalore.

She has been a fellow at Sarai CSDS and is currently a fellow at Ashoka: Innovators for the Public. She is also a fellow resident at the Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart. For details on the show at Tasveer Gallery near British Library on Kasturba Cross Road, visit www.tasveerarts.com.
