Passing-out parade held at Ezhimala

Call of Duty: Rear Admiral Rama Kant Pattanaik reviewing the passing-out parade at the INS Zamorin, Ezhimala, in Kannur, on Saturday.

EZHIMALA (KANNUR): The sixth batch of the Naval Orientation Course at INS Zamorin here passed out on Saturday.

Rear Admiral R.K. Pattanaik, Flag Officer Sea Training, reviewed the passing out parade of 114 trainees, including two personnel from the Coast Guard who had undergone the training.

Addressing the cadets, Rear Admiral Pattanaik stressed the importance of character building in the personnel engaged in the country’s defence. He said that the armed forces in general and the Indian Navy in particular ensured their personnel a superior way of life and quality of living.

The parade conducted at the Naval Academy Drill Shed marked the end of five months of rigorous training at the INS Zamorin here. The course had commenced on February 4th.

Rear Admiral Pattanaik also presented awards for excellence in training. Sub Lt. Hari Krishna Bajpayee and cadet Vipul Singh Raghuvanshi were awarded Chief of Naval Staff Silver Medals for the best all-round sub-lieutenant and best all-round cadet.

During the 20 weeks of training, the trainees participated in various outdoor activities such as parade training, physical training, swimming, sports, camp activities, small arms firing and academic orientation of the Navy. The training curriculum at INS Zamorin was structured to build the physical and moral attributes essential for a naval officer, Naval officials here said adding that all the trainees would now proceed to professional training schools for further training.
