Mr. Basavarajan was speaking after inaugurating the anti-malaria month, being organised by the district administration and zilla panchayat, here on Saturday. Expressing happiness that no deaths had occurred due to malaria in the district, in the recent past, Mr. Basavarajan, however, urged the Health Department to take preventive steps to avoid the spread of contagious diseases. “Indeed the job of the government is vital, but people also should take an initiative to educate rural people”, he observed. He advised health workers to render their services promptly in order to make the district malaria free. H.
