MALAPPURAM: The Union government’s Field Publicity Directorate will organise awareness programmes on the ill-effects of drug use in higher secondary schools in the district. The programmes will mark the World Anti-Drugs Day to be observed on June 26. Apart from seminars and classes, the directorate will organise competitions for higher secondary students in connection with the programme. A documentary titled ‘Laharippothi Maranappothi,’ produced by the Regional Cancer Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, will also be screened as part of the programme. District Superintendent of Police P. Vijayan will inaugurate the campaign against drug abuse at Government Higher Secondary School, Makkaraparamba, on June 26 morning. Makkaraparamba grama panchayat president P. Khadeeja will preside over the function.
