St. Stephen’s decision on reservation hailed

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Archbishop, Vincent M. Concessao, has welcomed the decision of the Supreme Council of St. Stephen’s College to keep 50 per cent of the seats reserved for Christian students.

Congratulating Bishop Sunil Singh, the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the College and Bishop of the Church of North India, Archbishop Concessao said here in a statement: “Though there would be opposition to this policy as if it was a new policy, the Supreme Council should stick to its decision. This is not only legal but also protects the interest of the minority community for whose primary use the college initially came into existence.”
