A.P. Congress MLA resigns
Staff Reporter
ELURU: Congress MLA Cherukuvada Sriranganadha Raju from Attili in West Godavari district announced his resignation on Saturday. Mr. Raju said he would submit copies of his resignation to Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy and Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday.
Vexed with the alleged police inaction in a case of attempt to murder and rape, he led a protest demonstration in front of Penumantra police station in the evening. He accused Zilla Parishad chairman K.V. Nageswara Rao and Tadepallugudem MLA Kottu Satyanarayana, both from the ruling Congress, of backing the accused in the case. He further went on record, saying that the duo were out to tarnish his popularity.
