Dhumal for rail link to Ladakh

SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Saturday called for the construction of a railway line connecting the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country for better protection of India’s border with China.

Addressing a public gathering after flagging off the Sindhu Darshan Yatra from Manali, he said it was strategically important for India to connect the border with the mainland and transport manpower and material required to protect the national boundaries. “The new railway line would further boost the tourism activities in the area,” he said. –PTI
