First daughter, then mother raped

NEW DELHI: A 50-year-old man and his two nephews have been arrested for alleged criminal assault on a 30-year-old slum dweller at Prashant Vihar here on Saturday. The victim had earlier this month lodged a complaint against one of their relatives alleging rape of her two-year-old daughter.

The accused have been identified as Narender, Mohit and Bijender. One of their alleged accomplices, Bhop Pratap, absconded after the incident.

According to the police, Narender’s elder brother Surender was arrested on charges of criminally assaulting a two-year-old girl on June 1 and was jailed. Following this, Surender’s relatives had been pressuring the child’s mother to withdraw the case.

When the woman did not succumb to their pressure, the four accused allegedly criminally assaulted her in the early hours of Saturday. She was later hospitalised.

A case has been registered.
