Many trains cancelled till June 30

ECoR seeks public support for smooth running of special trains

BHUBANESWAR: Faced with agitations from railway passengers, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Saturday appealed to the public not to resort to rail roko or any other agitation for smooth running of diverted and special trains. Many trains have been cancelled till June 30.

As many as 64 trains were cancelled, 41 trains were diverted and many trains short terminated in ECoR jurisdiction after breaches between Bakhrabad-Narayangarh-Contai Road-Kharagpur caused by incessant rain in the northern Orissa and West Bengal.

Some of the Howrah-bound important trains have been diverted via Cuttack-Angul-Sambalpur City-Jharsuguda-Kharagpur towards Howrah.

“Information to passengers is being given by the Railway administration by opening the control office round-the- clock. Extra refund counters have been opened at Puri, Khurda Road and Bhubaneswar stations to avoid inconvenience to passengers,” ECoR release said here.

In view of the congestion caused due to breaches and other damages in Kharagpur-Bhadrak Section, ECoR said several trains would be cancelled up to June 30.

The trains included 2819/2820 Bhubaneswar-New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Orissa Sampark Kranti Express, 2889/2890 Tata-Yeshvantpur-Tata weekly Express, 8477/8478 Puri-Haridwar-Puri Utkal Express, 2815/2816 Puri-New Delhi-Puri Neelachal Express, 2875/2876 Puri-New Delhi-Puri Superfast Express and 8449/8450 Puri-Patna-Puri Baidyanathdham Express.

The trains those could diverted 3351/3352 Dhanbad-Alappuzha-Dhanbad Express, 2510/2509 Bangalore-Guwahati-Bangalore Express, 2508/2507 Guwahati-Ernakulam-

Guwahati Express, 2660/2659 Shalimar-Nagercoil-Shalimar Gurudev Express, 6310/6309 Patna-Ernakulam-Patna Express, 6324/6323 Shalimar-Thiruvanantapuram-Shalimar Express and 2863/2864 Howrah-Yeshvantpur-Howrah Express.

Additional coaches

Meanwhile, special relief trains consisting of 13 coaches would ply from Khurda road to Contai Road carrying relief material to the affected areas till June 30. If required, additional coaches would be attached, ECoR said.
