Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Tension prevailed for sometime near Meenakshi Nursing Home in Basaveshwara Nagar on Friday when relatives of a 24-year-old woman tried to assault a doctor alleging that she had been cheating them.

The police said that relatives of Shivaratna (24), a resident of Agrahara Dasarahalli, alleged that the owner of Meenakshi Nursing Home, Dr. Meenakshi, had cheated her of nearly Rs. 3 lakh while providing treatment for medical termination of pregnancy. Dr. Meenakshi runs a nursing home at her residence on 6th Main, KHB Colony, in Basaveshwara Nagar. The police said that Shivaratna had undergone treatment at the nursing home.

Later, when she went for medical tests at another hospital, she was told that such a treatment had not been given to her.

Enraged relatives of Shivaratna staged a protest and sought refund of the money.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Harishekaran told The Hindu that a complaint had been lodged.
