Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI(M) district committee has decided to replace the chairmen of three standing committees in the City Corporation. The committee, which met on June 17, resolved to seek the resignation of Kunnukuzhy Manoharan (Development standing committee), P. Rajendra Das (Welfare) and K. Rajasekharan Nair (Works). A press note quoting party district secretary Kadakampally Surendran said the replacement was as per based an understanding reached in October 2006. “It was decided then that the three chairmen would serve a tenure of 30 months each, ” he said. Refuting reports that the shuffling was triggered by intense factional feud, Mr. Surendran said the party unit in the district was functioning as one.
