Thiruvananthapuram: More than 500 papers are expected to be presented at the 18th Swadeshi Science Congress being organised by the Swadeshi Science Movement and the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) here from November 5-7. RGCB Director M. Radhakrishna Pillai and general secretary of the Swadeshi Science Movement Parvathy Menon had told reporters that the congress would provide a platform to popularise new findings in biotechnology and other research subjects, as well as to educate the public. Scientists, teachers and researchers from across the country would present papers.Participants could also present the papers in their mother tongue. The C.V.Raman Pillai memorial lecture would be delivered by an eminent scientist on November 7. The best paper presented at the Congress would be given the Young Scientist award while a best woman scientist award would be given away for outstanding presentation and content of the paper. The Swadeshi Sastra Puraskaram would be presented to a scientist or technologist from the state who has made unique contributions to the field of science and technology. Those who are interested in participating have been directed to submit the abstracts of their papers to the Chairman, Swadeshi Science Congress, Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thycaud P.O, Thiuruvananthapuram on or before August 15.
