552 students selected for ‘Prothsaham’

Kakinada: The district administration has selected 522 poor students who secured more than 500 marks in the SSC examination this year, for admission to `corporate colleges’ by the end of the month under the first phase of the novel scheme `Prothsaham’.

They will be provided residential coaching for various competitive examinations with financial assistance from donors through the Indian Red Cross Society’s district branch.

District Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi stated in a press release that Sri Chaitanya and Aditya colleges in Kakinada and Narayana college at Rajahmundry had agreed to provide coaching. The students can take the help of liaison officers: Assistant BC Welfare Officer B Rajeswari (phone no. 9989600218) and Assistant Social Welfare Officer V Chakradhar Rao (9849903573) for Aditya Junior College, Kakinada, Assistant BC Welfare Officers K Dhanunjaya Rao (9849903571) and N Rajeswari for Chaitanya College, Kakinada and Assistant BC Welfare Officer K Kothari (9849964420) and Assistant Social Welfare Officer G Satyanarayana for Narayana College, Rajahmundry.

Some 1,000 poor, meritorious students from the Backward Classes and other economically weaker sections applied for sponsorship under the novel scheme.
