ONGC plans to double refinery capacity

Kakinada: The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has plans to double the capacity of its Tatipaka refinery from 66,000 metric tonnes (MT) in the coming years. During the year 2006-07, the company’s Rajahmundry asset has produced 2,51,321 MT of crude oil and 1,525 million metric standard cubic metres (MMSCM) of natural gas.

Of the total production of natural gas, 1,507 MMSCM were sold. In the same period, the Rajahmundry asset produced 92,947 MT of value added products in Tatipaka refinery which was started in 2001, according to ONGC officials.

Started in 1977, Rajahmundry asset today has seven drilling rigs, 18 production installations, it has drilled around 569 wells and one mini refinery is in operation at Tatipaka.

It is the biggest onshore gas producing asset and it produces from both onshore and offshore areas of Krishna-Godavari basin. Besides, the ONGC is involved in upstream and also downstream activities in this region.
