THALASSERY: A.V. Subramaniam, medical practitioner and former secretary of the Indian Medical Association, Thalassery branch, who had been practising here for over five decades, died on Saturday. He was 87. Dr. Subramaniam, a native of Thalassery, died of age-related ailments at his son’s residence in Bangalore. Cremation took place at Rajaji Nagar Electric Crematorium in Bangalore, his relatives said. Dr. Subramaniam was the son of Vaidyanatha Iyer, who had also been a medical practitioner here. He belonged to the generation of doctors who upheld the concept of the family doctor.
