Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: The Students Federation of India (SFI), students’ wing of the Communist Party of India(Marxist), on Sunday, announced that it has published the controversial social science textbook prescribed for Class VII on its web journal. In a statement here, the SFI State committee said the journal could be accessed on www.sfikeralaejournal.org. The journal contained questions and answers that addressed the criticisms raised by the media, rightist forces and fundamentalists, the statement said. RYF protestThe Revolutionary Youth Front (RYF), youth organisation of the Revolutionary Socialist Party, in a statement, called for an impartial assessment of the controversial textbook, which should be retained after correcting any mistakes through a consensual process. It said that curriculum reforms were indispensable in the context of strengthening the State’s cultural and social foundations. It called on all concerned to end wrong propaganda on the contents of the book. RSP State secretary V.P. Ramakrishna Pillai, in another statement, termed the Kerala Students Union-Youth Congress attack on the cluster meeting of teachers in Thiruvananthapuram recently as “Gujarat model.” He demanded that the Congress leadership end such violent methods of agitation.
