Three-month-old among eight killed in accidents

Coimbatore: Eight persons, including a three-month-old, were killed in various accidents on Saturday and Sunday.
Karunanidhi (30), Tamilarasi (29) and their three-month-old daughter Kanimozhi were killed when the scooter on which they were travelling was hit by a bus on Sundarapuram- Madukkarai Main Road here on Sunday evening.
Fish trader
The police said Karunanidhi, a fish trader in Tirupur, had come to Coimbatore to visit his brother-in-law staying at Singanallur.
Karunanidhi and Tamilarasi died on the spot and the child died at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.
In another accident, Swaminathan (40), Senthil (34) and Bhuvanesh (34) were crushed to death when the car in which they were travelling rammed a tree at Kunnathur.
Bhagyaraj (27) who was driving the vehicle escaped with minor injuries.
He was saved by the air bag that inflated immediately under the impact of the crash.
In another accident at Amaravathi, two persons in a fish-laden van were killed when it collided with a bus. Ashok (34) who was driving the van died on the spot.
Another driver, Anthony, who was travelling with him, suffered grievous injuries.
He was rushed to a hospital, but could not be saved.
The driver of the bus, Arumugham (48), conductor Rajasekaran (51) and five passengers were injured.
