Property tax payment

Sir, — The temporary relief offered by the Government by allowing payment of property tax in accordance with the Self-Assessment Scheme is welcome. However, the Cabinet Committee which is going to study the Capital Value System scheme should be careful while deciding the future course of action. It should not treat Bangalore on a par with other towns of Karnataka owing to various factors. I hope the members of the committee are aware of the problems of the city. V.S. Ganeshan,

Sir, — The stray dog menace has become acute on 11th ‘B’ and ‘C’ crosses, 3rd Block, BEL Layout, Vidrayanyapura. Residents are having sleepless nights because of the dogs. The canines also pose a threat to several children in the locality. The BBMP authorities should immediately send a dog-catching squad to the area. I hope the new BJP Government will take steps to curb dog menace in the city.

Sir, — Flyovers have to a certain extent eased traffic congestion in the city, but problems for motorists persist. A case in point is the flyover connecting Bannerghatta and MICO Layout, which is invariably jammed as there is no policeman manning the junction.

The authorities should consider installing a traffic signal on the road so that people follow the rules. White arrows should also be marked clearly on the road so that traffic moves in a linear manner.
