Bangalore: The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has simplified the procedure for issuing smart card-based student confessional passes for 2008-09. Though it is compulsory for students to submit their 2007-2008 smart cards to renew cards for 2008-2009, the personal appearance of pass holders is not compulsory, said a press release. Those who are applying for fresh passes will be given a new card which will contain only identification number, name and photo of pass holder and signature of the issuing authority in printed form on the card. All other details will be stored in the embedded chip. Passes for pre-university course students will be issued from June 23 and for students of degree and other courses from July 7 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on all days except Sundays.
