What they say

Hemant Kumar

Hemant Kumar, commuter: “Autorickshaw drivers are truly nice if you agree to the prices they charge. I travel daily from my home in Neelankarai to Ascendas IT Park in Taramani and I don’t haggle. The trip to my workplace costs me Rs. 80 and the trip back home, Rs. 90. I think they demand extra because they know I work in the IT sector. Autorickshaw drivers in Chennai charge about 1.5 to 2 times the meter fare. I realised this when I was in Mumbai, where a driver took only the meter fare even though it was late at night. It would be great if Chennai’s autorickshaw drivers use the meters.”
