Sumati, Vijay emerge best

BANGALORE: Sumathi Nalabanthu of Andhra Pradesh, a former champion upstaged leader for the last four days, Pratima Hegde of Karnataka to regain the women’s crown in the National tenpin bowling championship here at the Starcity Bowling Centre on Sunday. For the third successive year, Pratima who had promised much had to rest content with the runner-up position.

Vijay Punjabi however ensured that it was not all disappointment for the host. The results:

Men: 1. Vijay Punjabi (Kar) 8220 (avg: 195.7); 2. Rahul Jain (TN) 7972 (avg: 189.8); 3.Vijay D (AP) 7932 (188.8), 4.Girish Gaba (Kar) 7867 (187.3); 5. Srinath P (Kar) 7861 (187.1); 6. Anthony Rajkumar (Kar) 7836 (186.5).
