PANAJI: The Disability Rights Association of Goa (DRAG), which is spearheading the cause of the differently-abled people, has criticised the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), a Government of Goa undertaking, for non-compliance with the orders of the State Disability Commissioner. In a judgment given on May 27, 2008, State Disability Commissioner Ajit Srivastava, on a complaint by a physically challenged person that he had not been appointed by GIDC despite reservations, directed the GIDC to prepare a roster after reserving 3 per cent of its posts for the physically challenged and intimate to the State Disability Commissioner the number of vacancies for the physically challenged after accommodating the complainant and also directed it to advertise the backlog vacancies before June 15.
