THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Talks between the Congress and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) here on Monday to resolve the differences between the parties following certain remarks made by Congress leader Aryadan Mohammed remained inconclusive, but the leaders of the two parties decided to bury their differences in view of, what they felt, mounting popular resentment against the government’s policies, particularly in the education sector. Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala and Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy held two rounds of talks with IUML leaders P.K. Kunhalikutty and E.T. Mohammed Basheer. Mr. Kunhalikutty said after the meeting that the talks were satisfactory, but a final decision would be announced after the Congress leaders hold a meeting with the IUML chief Panakkad Syed Mohammedali Shihab Thangal on July 26. Mr. Chennithala said that it had been decided to meet Mr. Thangal on July 26, after which the Congress party would announce its decision.
