A delegation of senior citizens led by BJP general secretary Vijay Goel presenting a memorandum to Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna on Monday. NEW DELHI: A 25-member delegation of senior citizens led by Bharatiya Janata Party general secretary Vijay Goel called on Delhi’s Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna on Monday to express concern over the safety of senior citizens in the city. The delegation complained to the L-G that despite repeated claims by the Delhi police, nothing was being done to ensure security and safety of elderly people. Also, senior citizens face a great deal of harassment and get no hearing in government offices while visiting there for redress of their day-to-day problems, it added. According to Mr. Goel, the L-G assured the delegation that he would take up the matter with the Police Commissioner. “Mr. Khanna said he would make efforts to open a senior citizens’ cell in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi,” said Mr. Goel.
