SPEL Semiconductor to drop SEZ project

CHENNAI: SPEL Semiconductor has decided to approach the Ministry of Industries for making due representation to withdraw/cancel its approval for establishment of Special Economic Zone as the company is not in a position to execute the project, according to a Bombay Stock Exchange release. Meanwhile, the company has achieved a revenue of Rs. 76.48 crore in the year ended March 31, 2008 against Rs. 55.09 crore and a net profit of 7.31 crore against Rs. 3.91 crore in 2006-07, says a release. — Corporate Reporter
