Atwal signs off tied 9th

Knoxville (USA): An erratic Arjun Atwal turned in his worst card of the week — a one-under 71 in the final round — to slip three places on the leader-board and sign off tied ninth in the Nationwide Tour’s Knoxville Open golf here.

The Orlando-based golfer finished with a total of 13-under 275.

He was six strokes behind winner Australian Jarrod Lyle (69), who beat American Chris Kink (67) in a play-off.

Kapur joint 40th

At Munich, Shiv Kapur and Jyoti Randhawa turned in identical cards of one-under 71 in the final round to rise marginally and sign off tied 40th and tied 43rd respectively in the BMW International Open.

While Kapur ended his campaign with a total of three-under 285, Randhawa finished a stroke behind him at two-under 286.

At the top, local favourite Martin Kaymer (75) beat Dane Anders Hansen (67) in a play-off.

He became the first German to lift the title in the tournament’s 20-year history after the duo was tied at 15-under 273.

English trio Paul Casey, John Bickerton and Mark Foster were tied for third on 13-under 275. — PTI
