Sangareddy: Minister for Cooperation Mohd. Fariduddin said that farm loans worth Rs. 1,207 crore in 2,242 primary cooperative societies in the State were waived under the loan waiver scheme offered by the Union government. Addressing a loan waiver rally here on Monday, he said the benefit to the farmers in Telangana region would be around Rs. 726 crore. Lauding the Chief Minister for the revival of cooperative sector in the State, the Minister said that the bill intended to choke the cooperative sector to death by the Telugu Desam government was put to rest because of the Alipiri incident and the resultant early polls to the State Assembly. Minister for Major Industries J. Geetha Reddy enlisted several programmes initiated by the Congress government and said that soon the government would launch crop insurance scheme with the village as a unit. Assuring farmers on improved fertilizer supplies, she said that 2000 tonnes fertilizers would be arriving in the district to ease the shortage. Minister for School Education Damodar Rajnarsimha said that no other party in the State has the right to ask for votes on the development plank after the pro-peasant rule of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
