The Canara Bank has signed an MOU with Railway authorities to install ATM with internet railway ticketing. In Paramakudi, the Canara Bank has set up an ATM centre within their banking premises. Will the authorities provide the internet Railway ticketing facilities at their ATM centre to facilitate the passengers to book tickets in an easy manner? V. Rajendran Paramakudi Retain first class compartmentsThe seating pattern of first classes compartments in the railway is more suited for the aged and comfortable for the sick and children. The first class is also availed by those who are allergic to air-conditioned atmosphere. Of late, railways are slowly converting the first class coaches into air-conditioned ones with an ultimate goal to abolish it completely. In addition, the berth in first class is wider in measurement than what is provided in A/C coaches. Therefore, it is necessary that the first class compartments should be retained as it is and should not be disturbed. I hope the Railway Minister will look into this. Asmabagh Anvardeen
Ramanathapuram Operate special bus serviceIn Tiruchi and Salem, there is a bus service to the Railway Station from the Central Bus Stand and beyond. But in Madurai, the train passengers sadly miss such an easy and convenient bus service. We have to depend on autos which charge exorbitant fare. Of course, the buses that ply between the Mattuthavani Integrated bus-stand and the Periyar Bus-stand and beyond do halt at a stop near the Mangamma Choultry. But train passengers, particularly the elderly ones and women with children and luggage, experience great difficulty in alighting at this stop at the split second allowed by the bus crew for getting down. Once they alight here, a much greater difficulty awaits them while crossing the ever-busy West Veli Street which always witnesses a criss-crossing of all types of vehicles at break-neck speed. The authorities are requested to operate buses to the Railway station complex, in the early mornings and late evenings, when many trains arrive and depart. G.K.S. Kandasubramanian
Sivaganga Administer anti-rabies vaccineRamanathapuram Municipality has sterilised stray dogs two or three months ago and left them in the streets. Usually in summer season stray dogs will develop rabid and bite the public. The Municipality does not seem to care a hoot about the dangers from these sterilised dogs as they have not been administered anti-rabies vaccine. As such these dogs have tuned out to be a menace in Ramanathapuram. The Ramanathapuram Municipality should take action to ensure that these animals are rabid-free. G. Nagasamy Ramanathapuram
