Basically, the TDP had opposed the food court No allegations against TD corporators VISAKHAPATNAM: The Telugu Desam in Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) would not accept any decision to shift the food court venue without the approval of the general body meeting of the Corporation, Leader of Opposition and Floor Leader of the party in GVMC Nalluri Bhaskara Rao said here on Monday. Basically TDP had opposed the food court when it was proposed on the Rajiv Gandhi memorial premises on the Beach Road but the ruling Congress had its way in the general body meeting and a decision to shift it to another place must be approved by the general body , said Mr. Bhaskara Rao at a press conference he addressed with other party corporators. The Congress decided to shift the food court only after one of its leaders raised an objection but only the general body meeting could alter a decision made by it, he pointed out reiterating the party’s stand that it would oppose the construction of food court. Mr. Bhaskara Rao insisted that TDP was opposing many decisions being taken by the Congress inside and outside the GVMC and continue its fight against allocation of water to the Jindal and Anrak alumina refineries, construction of a road in a cremation ground in the 41st Division for the benefit of an apartment complex, etc. There were no allegations against the TDP corporators and he was not aware of the party high command forming a committee to investigate the allegations made against them, he added. Goud’s resignationMeanwhile, Telugu Desam’s district unit president Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy criticised senior party leader T. Devender Goud for quitting the party. Mr. Goud displayed his dishonesty towards the party at a crucial phase, he said.
