BJP legislators told not to be provoked
Special Correspondent
BANGALORE: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa is learnt to have asked party legislators not to get provoked by criticism from Opposition members during legislature debates.
According to sources, at a BJP Legislature Party meeting on Monday the Chief Minister said the Opposition parties were trying to provoke the BJP legislators as part of their strategy to create confusion in a bid to prevent the Government from putting across its views on important issues.
The Chief Minister is expected to hold district-wise meetings with legislators to elicit their views on the budget to be presented by him.
Poll promises
The party legislators stressed the need for giving importance to translating the party’s poll promises into budgetary programmes, especially the one on increasing the income limit for being categorised as a poor family.
Ration cards
Several legislators alleged that BPL ration cards had not been given to genuine poor families.
There were instances in which the rich had obtained BPL ration cards while poor families were denied them. They suggested that the BJP Government should rectify these lapses and ensure that the genuine poor got BPL cards.
