“Act fast on petitions”

Helping hand: M. Jayaraman, Collector, handing over monthly assistance to a physically challenged youth in Nagapattinam on Monday.

NAGAPATTINAM: Action will be taken on the petitions submitted by the public on the grievances day meetings and favourable orders will be issued on petitions of genuine nature, said M. Jayaraman, Collector, here on Monday.

Presiding over the public grievances day meeting, he said that he had received 310 petitions on Monday and most of them sought new family cards, free house site pattas, free TV, old age pension and relief assistance for the physically challenged.

The Collector after going through the petitions instructed the officials of the concerned departments to take action within a week based on the merits.

He distributed assistance to physically challenged, old age pension to a few and a subsidy amount of Rs.10,000 to seven physically challenged for purchase of three-wheeler scooters.
